How the Tyneside and Northumberland Mind team put their words into action and take care of their mental health.
When mental health is your bread and butter it can be hard to take care of your mental health. In honour of World Mental Health Day (10 October) we asked our team how they look after their mental health and wellbeing – and what it means to work for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind!

I love working at Tyneside and Northumbria Mind. The company values align with what I believe in. A collaborative environment where people work together towards shared goals. I value the supportive culture where services and partnerships work together to uplift and support others. Being part of a company that genuinely lives these values is refreshing.
To look after my own mental wellbeing I go for walks, connect with friends and spend time with family.
– Emma, Wellbeing Coach
It means I get to offer therapy for free to everyone who lives in Gateshead. This feels great.
I dance, do yoga, get out in nature, read, eat nourishing good food, spend times with friends, find support when I need it – through a friend or a professional.
Emma, Counselllor
Working with colleagues who make a difference to people’s lives daily is a very positive experience. We’re a small charity but have a big impact in our region and contributing to that impact, even in my back office role, is hugely rewarding.
I try to go for a daily walk for fresh air and exercise, and ensure I take regular breaks away from my desk.
