Please note: This training catalogue is delivered in partnership with Northumberland County Council, to attend any training events you must work within the Northumberland County Council area and be part of a priority group – information at the very end of the webpage.
Mental Health First Aider Training is a two-day (14 hour total) course, providing essential mental health information and support, giving learners a confident grasp on mental health, regardless of their current knowledge. MHFA Training is delivered in partnership with MHFA England and by accredited Trainers.
*By completing this course you will receive three (3) years of certification as a Mental Health First Aider including resources, ongoing learning and 24/7 digital support through the MHFAider Support App®.
The ability to recognise those with mental health concerns
The skillset to effectively support those in need and provide appropriate intervention
The confidence to identify a person in need and assist them with accessing professional help and other supports
Operate with active listening and empathy
Able to find a noticeable improvement in your mental health literacy and have confidence discussing your position as a First Aider

MHFA training is delivered both online or face-to-face (see upcoming events for further details)
Learners are invited to join four separate, live, flexible training sessions, delivered by a MHFA England Instructor, each lasting a maximum of 3.5 hours long, with breaks throughout
Training is delivered through a mix of trainer-led educational presentations, group discussions, individual and group activities
Each session builds on the previous session, increasing learners confidence supporting others with a Mental Health First Aid action plan
A maximum of 16 participants are invited to join each MHFA training course, to ensure the safety and comfort of all learners

Youth Mental Health First Aider Training is a two-day (14 hour total) course, designed with young people with lived experience and teaching learners mental health knowledge, awareness, and skills. Youth MHFA gives you the tools to better spot the signs of a young person experiencing poor mental health and the confidence to start a conversation, safeguard and signpost to appropriate support. Youth MHFA is for those living, working or supporting young people aged 8 to 18. MHFA Training is delivered in partnership with MHFA England and by accredited Trainers.

Suicide First Aid Lite is a half day (three hour) course, equipping learners with essential information around suicide intervention and teaching the skills and tools to help someone intervene with people at risk of suicide.
