Need urgent help?

What to do if you need urgent help, who to call, where to go, and how to make sense of and support yourself and others when experiencing mental health troubles.

If you need urgent support

>Contact your GP surgery and ask for an emergency appointment.

>Talk to someone who is trained to listen. The Samaritans are open 24/7, 365 days a year with a free call service at 116 123.

If you don’t feel able to stay safe

>Call 999 for an ambulance

>Go straight to A&E, if you are able to

>Call your local crisis team

>If you don’t feel able to do this alone, ask someone to help you. A mental health crisis is just as valid as any medical emergency.

Understanding suicidal thoughts and feelings

Having suicidal thoughts or feelings can be scary, confusing, and overwhelming. Mind has some useful resources to help you understand these thoughts and feelings, and find out about your support options. Find it here.

How to support someone who is feeling suicidal

It can be really worrying if someone you know is having suicidal thoughts or feelings, and you may not be sure what you can say or do to help. The Samaritans website has a lot of helpful information on how you can provide support to somebody you’re worried about. Find it here.
