As the Christmas season begins again, many of us often feel a muddle of emotion, both good and bad thoughts and a varying response to the arrival of the festivity. All reactions are valid and are part of what makes us who we are, and for many Christmas can be a very difficult holiday for various reasons. This year, we want to challenge you to practice some self care and create a Christmas card – with a twist.
This Christmas card is special because it won’t be addressed to someone else, but ourselves. Taking the time to create a card, dedicated to yourself can be a wonderful way to reflect on what we each achieved throughout the year, remind ourselves of our good qualities, and take the time to be thankful. Ensuring we are giving ourselves the time and space to pause and consider some positive points during this often stressful period. Be kind to yourself and take some time to reflect on what has happened, focusing on any good things-small or large.
Whilst there is no science to this activity we do have some guidance to help you get started!
Choose a word that means something positive to you for the New Year; hope, joy, love, kind, peace, shine, star, etc. Draw around it with Zentangle or patterns. Write inside how much you achieved last year, throw that negative voice away, don’t excuse the positives, really focus on what makes you fab and special!
Here is some inspiration for your very own Christmas card, created by members of our Wellbeing group during Christmas 2021!
