Training and development is important to us, and we will soon be offering training courses across Tyneside Mind.
This is the first time we have been able to offer training courses, and we are looking forward to welcoming Jens Hydahll, a Danish psychological counsellor from Contrazone, who will be sharing his expertise in Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy, with our staff. We then hope to be able to offer Mindfulness training courses using Jens technique, and have appointed a dedicated member of staff to conduct these courses.
Mindfulness Therapy aims to encourage restfulness in your inner consciousness, using techniques such as meditation, breathing and yoga. In turn this encourages awareness of thoughts and feelings so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we’re better able to manage them. Many people who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours find that Mindfulness therapy has a positive effect.
Helping to break negative thought patterns through Mindfulness therapy teaches people to pay attention to the present moment, rather than worrying about things in their past or future. It can also help with preventing episodes of mental illness, making people aware of the thoughts and feelings that might be a trigger point.
