The Golden Guide is celebrating its 10th Anniversary! The first edition was launched in 2006 in every corner of Northumberland by our four MPs and was a smash hit from day one!
Chunky, handy, very readable and FREE the guide is packed with local information on Leisure, Health, Money, Care and Your Home. Updated every year it helps over 50s find practical support with health, financial or safety issues, as well as how to stay active, keep fit and keep in touch. It lists activities from computers, woodwork, writing or fitness groups to befriending schemes, support for carers and help at home. This year there are 6000 copies, special features inside and a brand new easy- to- use online version too.
Editor Heather Alabaster says: ‘We’re delighted to have reached such a milestone! It’s a massive fundraising task to produce it every year— so I’d like to say a great big Thanks to everyone for reading it, using it and supporting it. And this is a very special issue— look out for extra features on Socialising, Staying Healthy, and Looking After Your Money—three topics the Golden Guide does best!’
