About the Role
Tyneside & Northumberland Mind exists to promote positive mental health, providing flexible, responsive and sustainable support services.
We always put the people we support first and to make it possible for people who experience mental health issues to live full lives and play a full part in society.
All of our services are focused on improving and enhancing an persons wellbeing, based on the principles and practices of person centred planning and self-directed support.
Our back office functions are essential to the day to day running of the charity and are integral to its success. We are looking for a Volunteer to support us for a few hours each week with our Fundraising and Events programme.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to gain valuable community and events fundraising experience for a dynamic local charity, supporting the day to day work of the Community and Events Fundraiser.
The role offers the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of fundraising across a wide range of community and fundraising settings. Particularly promoting and facilitating activities for our corporate and business supporters.
The role is flexible and we are looking for someone who can volunteer from our Head Office based in Bensham, Gateshead ideally for 2 days per week.
We are looking for a dynamic, outgoing, self-starter - maybe someone looking to gain some practical experience before going into paid employment?
Although the post is unpaid, we do offer reimbursement for travel

Tyneside and Northumberland Mind are seeking new Trustees
Could you be a Trustee? Do you have business, commercial or clinical experience? Tyneside and Northumberland Mind are looking for new Trustees to join our board.
About the Trustee role
Trustees have an important and interesting role within charities to ensure that the organisation is well run and fulfils all its current and future commitments to its beneficiaries. We are an ambitious charity and want to move beyond services funded by the public sector and charitable grants therefore we are looking to recruit new trustees who understand our core values and someone who is focused on improving the mental health and wellbeing of people within Tyneside and Northumberland. You will have strong client centred values that match our ambition to offer better mental health across the region. We are seeking people from a range of disciplines to complement the skill set of our existing trustees, following an audit of our strengths and gaps', and 'we are currently setting up a wholly owned commercial therapy centre, Be.
We will also be nominating Trustees to join the Board of Be, and also recruiting external non Executive Directors'.
Our Board of Trustees meet once a month and meetings usually take place at our Headquarters in Bensham, Gateshead.
• To ensure that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the organisations’ governing document
• To uphold the fiduciary duty invested in the position, undertaking such duties in a way
• To determine the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning.
• To attend monthly Board meetings and other ad-hoc meetings where necessary
• Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements
• Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times.
• Promoting and developing the charity in order for it to grow
• Maintaining sound financial management of the charity’s resources, in line with the organisations objectives
