Smile for a Mile is a group Facebook page set up by Karyn Thompson.
Karyn identified with so many other people struggling mentally at the moment and who knew that they needed to move more than they do to improve their emotional wellbeing.
The aim of the Smile for a Mile Facebook page is for everyone to simply go out and walk / run / cycle / push a pram or wheelchair / roller skate or scooter - whatever you want really.
Do it for a mile and try to smile while you’re doing it.
Try to find things while you are outside that make you feel happy or make you smile.
It will get your blood pumping in a gentle way and also get you out of the house for a while. Take photos while you're out and let’s show each other what’s made us Smile on our Mile.
Join the 3,500 others who love to share their Smiles over the Miles from all over the world.
Smile for a Mile wants to also help people who are struggling with Mental illness by supporting local mental health services throughout the Tyneside and Northumberland area.
The Smile for a Mile 1000 Challenge has been launched to encourage people to join in to achieve a 1000 mile walk target collectively and to raise money for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind.
