Can I refer myself?

No. We need a referral to be signed off by a professional but this could be a mental health professional, social worker, GP or another charity. If in doubt, please get in touch.

Do I have to pay for services?

At the moment all of our services are free at the point of use.

Where are you?

Our main office is in Bensham, Gateshead, but we have services across Tyneside and Northumberland.

Are you a branch of national Mind?

No. Mind is a network of 152 independent Mind associations, Mind shops and national Mind. Tyneside and Northumberland Mind has its own board of trustees, sets our own programme of services according to local need and raises all of its own money.

What ages do you work with?

We work with all ages. Most of our services are for people aged 18+ but we do have a programme of services for young people.

Are all services available in all areas?

No. Because of the way our funding works we can't deliver all of our services in all areas. If you are in doubt please contact us.

Are your services confidential?

We take confidentiality and discretion very seriously. Experiencing a mental health problem is nothing to be ashamed of but we understand that people value their privacy and are worried about confidentiality. We will maintain confidentiality and discretion unless there are extreme circumstances when we can't (if we think you may harm yourself or others for example).

How can I donate money to support your work?

Tyneside and Northumberland Mind has to raise its own money to carry on delivering services. If you would like to support our work with a donation you can do it via our Just Giving page, by sending us a cheque, or coming along to our office with a cash donation. If you would like your donation to be used for a certain purpose, or in a particular area, we can discuss that with you too.

Some other Minds have advocacy / dementia / carers services – why don't you?

Because of the way the Mind network is structured we all deliver services according to local need and our organisations' strengths and expertise. Subsequently not all Minds deliver the same services.

Can I just turn up to a group?

No. We have a referral process and we need to know you are coming. Please contact us to find out more.
